520,000 tons of emission reduction every year! my country's first 10,000-ton photovoltaic hydrogen production project starts construction

On November 30, Sinopec announced that my country's first 10,000-ton photovoltaic hydrogen production project, the Xinjiang Kuqa Green Hydrogen Demonstration Project, has officially started construction. After the project is put into operation, the annual output of green hydrogen can reach 20,000 tons.

The Xinjiang Kuqa Green Hydrogen Demonstration Project is a large-scale direct hydrogen production project using photovoltaic power generation, with a total investment of nearly 3 billion yuan, mainly including photovoltaic power generation, power transmission and transformation, electrolysis of water for hydrogen production, hydrogen storage, and hydrogen transmission. The power generation is 618 million kWh.

Fan Linsong, general manager of Sinopec Xinxing Xinjiang Green Hydrogen New Energy Co., Ltd.: The project supports the construction of a 300-megawatt photovoltaic power station, the planned hydrogen production capacity is 20,000 tons per year, and the hydrogen storage scale is 210,000 cubic meters. After the project is put into operation, it can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 520,000 tons per year.

Green hydrogen is produced by generating electricity from renewable energy sources such as wind energy and photovoltaics. It basically does not generate greenhouse gases during the production process, and eliminates carbon emissions from the source. It is called "zero-carbon hydrogen". The project is expected to be completed and put into operation in June 2023, which will contribute 130 million yuan to the local average annual GDP and create more than 18 million yuan in tax revenue.
